Flat Bella Returns to Indiana

It was a sad day at the Sealund’s when Flat Bella returned to Indiana. You may be asking, who is Flat Bella? Flat Bella is a wonderful visitor from Indiana. Flat Bella is a replica of a 7 year old girl named Bella. Bella created a replica of herself (see picture) so that her clone could vacation, work, and play at a place and with people that she determined would offer a nice time. You can imagine how honored my husband and I were that we were selected for this prestigious privilege! Upon completion of Flat Bella’s visit, we were to return her along with photos and memories that she can then share with her classmates at school.

The creation of Flat Bella was inspired by the Flat Stanley Project:

Stanley Lambchop is flattened when a bulletin board falls on him. He survives and makes the best of his altered state, and soon he is sliding into rooms through the opening at the bottom of closed doors and being kind to his younger brother by playing as a kite for him. Stanley even helps catch some art museum sneak thieves by posing as a painting on the wall! But one special advantage is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by being mailed in an envelope” (Brown, Jeff, 2007).

During Flat Bella’s 10 day stay we enjoyed our time with her. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, so enjoy the thousands of words below as you learn more about Flat Bella’s visit with the Sealunds. And my hope for you is that one day a small child will ask you if their Flat replica can come visit :)
